Kinda freaky...

This is tradescantia or spiderwort, a plant I had in the front garden of my old house for many years, but I just learned an interesting fact about it.

The tradescantia plant is now used across the world to measure air quality. The purer the air, the flowers will be a very light lavender, almost a blue... but when there is a lot of smog/pollution, the blooms of this plant turn dark purple.

And, as memory serves, mine were always dark purple.
